The Dress Shop is a large Studio in Selly Oak, Birmingham and we have been established for nearly 25years, with the same staff, giving us many years of experience.

Originally we were known as The Wedding Studio and based on Pershore Road in Selly Park, specialising then in making wedding and bridesmaid dresses.

We expanded rapidly and moved to the much larger premises of Highlight Studios on Raddlebarn Road in 1992. To enable us to have a much more extensive range of dresses, we stopped manufacturing and expanded to now include:

• Plus sizes
• Party dresses
• Alterations to all clothes

Due to the vast amount of bridal shops, we decided to forego stocking wedding dresses and concentrate on giving customers far more choice in other special dresses for other special occasions.

Unlike other shops and high street stores we offer both an “order-in” and a “buy off-the-peg” service along with the all important friendly, personal service.

We are very experienced in finding the right dress for the right person and customers always comment on how friendly and helpful we are. We are down-to-earth and will give you an honest opinion on whether a dress suits you. There is no way we would let you purchase a dress that wasn’t flattering, the right colour for you and that you looked good in. We know that if you are confident in what you are buying you will return and this is why we have so many regular customers who over the years have all become good friends.

The Dress Shop is very child friendly and we know how difficult it is to clothes shop with children in tow, so we have a box full of toys to keep them happy and occupied, leaving you less stressed and able to try on for as long as you want.

If you have an important event to attend and you want to look your best, then it is very important to be able to try on, to find the right style and colour which suits you and also to be able to feel the quality of the dress. As we are all different sizes and shapes and colouring, it is extremely difficult to buy a special dress without first trying it on. There are many enticing dress offers on the internet, but we see so many disappointed people who think they have got a bargain, only to find when it arrives that it does not look like the photograph and because the quality of manufacture is poor it is virtually impossible to get a good fit, without spending a lot more money. Although we only stock dresses of a high quality, we do not like to sell over the internet because we feel it is important to see the dress on you so we can check it is fitting correctly and that you are absolutely happy before you buy.
